Overview of AEDP treatment approach (four state model of change, role of core affect in transformation), definition of term “pathogenic affect” and discuss interventions used to help patients regulate affect ! 10:00- 10:45 First clinical video vignette: Session #2 with patient. Demonstrates interventions focused on creating safety, regulating affect and maintaining an experiential focus. Differentiation technique is introduced.

Second clinical video vignette: Session #14 Begins with the patient becoming overwhelmed and highly distressed by painful emotions from her childhood. The AEDP four state model of change is demonstrated.

The patient recognizes a new, firm quality to her anger, unlike past “tantrums”. The session demonstrates the processing of core affective experiences, transformational moments and postbreakthrough feelings of calm and psychological solidity
