This course will share strategies for meaningfully engaging youth in discussions and planning around normalcy. To improve the system’s capacity to normalize the experiences of youth in the child welfare system, agencies must build in opportunities for youth to voice their opinions on the types of activities in which they want to participate, the skills they want to develop, and the people in the community with whom they want to connect. In this webinar, participants will hear from youth and child welfare professionals about effective strategies for engaging youth and their experiences in implementing the normalcy conversation into case planning. Presenters will share examples of policies and practices that will facilitate youth engagement and enhance opportunities for normalcy, offering strategies to implement them into agency practice.
