David Wallin, PhD

David Wallin, PhD A graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University and received his Ph.D. from the Wright Institute. A founder in 1977 of the Marin Psychotherapy Institute in Mill Valley, California. He has taught throughout the United States and engaged for more than twenty five years in the practice and supervision of psychoanalytical psychotherapy. During that time he has made a specialty of teaching from the contemporary literature - especially the theories of Object Relations, Self Psychology, Intersubjectivity, and Attachment—with an emphasis on integrating multiple perspectives and translating theory into practice. He is co-author (with Stephen Goldbart) of the acclaimed book, “Mapping the Terrain of the Heart: Passion, Tenderness, and the Capacity to Love".
