Allan N. Schore, PhD

Allan N. Schore, PhD is on the clinical faculty of the University of California at Los Angeles Medical School, is an editor and reviewer of a number of journals in neuroscience, developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, and psychoanalysis, and has been in private psychotherapy practice for over three decades. His groundbreaking contributions have impacted the fields of affective neuroscience, psychiatry, developmental psychopathology, trauma theory, infant mental health, psychotherapy, and psychoanalysis. Described as "the American Bowlby", Dr. Schore has written the Foreword to the reissue of John Bowlby's classic volume Attachment and has delivered the 7th Annual John Bowlby Memorial Lecture. Dr. Schore has lectured extensively at universities in this country and abroad, and has presented plenary addresses and clinical workshops at many international, national, and state psychiatry, psychology and social work conferences, including the American Psychological Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy Professional Conference, the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, and the German Society of Psychotraumatology. He has offered workshops at various psychoanalytic institutes, including the Anna Freud Center and the Tavistock Clinic in London, and has presented his ideas on emotional development to the American Academy of Pediatrics, Zero to Three, and the National Head Start Research Conference.
