Roger Walsh, MD, Ph.D., obtained degrees in psychology, physiology,
neuroscience and medicine, and then passed clinical licensing exams in
psychology, psychiatry and medicine. He is currently professor of
psychiatry, philosophy, anthropology and religious studies at the University
of California at Irvine. He has been a student, researcher and teacher of
contemplative traditions for more than twenty-five years. His writings and
research have received over two dozen national and international awards and
honors, while his teaching has received one national and six university
awards. His related books include Paths Beyond Ego: The Transpersonal
Vision, and Essential Spirituality: The Seven Central Practices.
