Huston Smith, Ph.D., is one of the most influential and widely known
religious scholars of our time. He is Thomas J. Watson Professor of Religion
and Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Philosophy, Emeritus, at Syracuse
University. His fourteen books include The World's Religions which has sold
over two million copies, and Why Religion Matters, which won the 2001 Wilbur
Award for the year's best book on religion. His film documentaries on
Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism, and Sufism all won international awards, and in
1996 Bill Moyers devoted a five-part PBS Special to his life and work. The
recipient of twelve honorary degrees, he is an extremely popular speaker
whose thought ranges from timeless wisdom to contemporary concerns and
bridges psychology, philosophy and religion.
