Francine Shapiro, PhD

is an assistant professor at Santa Clara University and is adjunct faculty for Andrew Weil’s Program of Integrative Medicine. Dr. Shapiro trained in mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) at the University of Massachusetts with Jon Kabat-Zinn and colleagues. Her research focuses on examining the effects of mindfulness-based stress reduction across a wide range of populations including breast cancer, insomnia, and substance abuse. An area of special interest for Dr. Shapiro is bringing mindfulness meditation to health-care professionals. She has presented and offered keynote addresses to numerous national and international audiences.
