COURSE OUTLINE

This course provides a comprehensive and scientifically based understanding of the anxiety disorders, an update of recent developments in theory and practice for anxiety disorders, and a practical level of instruction in implementing cognitive behavioral therapies for treatment. Attendees will have the opportunity to study with a master in the field of anxiety disorders diagnosis, research, and treatment. Dr. Craske's lecture will include a conceptual understanding of anxiety and fear, why it persists, as well as how to utilize step-by-step treatment protocols for short-term treatment of the most commonly diagnosed anxiety disorders. Attendees will receive the most recent information on empirically validated cognitive-behavioral treatment for panic disorder, agoraphobia, generalized anxiety disorder and social phobia, and will learn effective ways of integrating cognitive-behavioral therapies with medication treatments.
