Integrating IFS and EMDR

With effective and efficient trauma therapies such as EMDR it is essential that clinicians understand that, especially with trauma exposed clients, it's important to get to know and understand the parts of the clients self that experienced trauma and know how to work with and help those parts to integrate into the whole of who the client really is. Clinicians will learn more about how to lead THEIR internal family and as a result, work more effectively with their client’s internal family. : This Non-pathologizing approach that WELCOMES ALL PARTS is a PRACTICAL and HANDS ON training where clinicians will also learn participate in: What a Protector, Manager, Firefighter, and Exile is as it relates to the self and system. The 8 Cs and 5 Ps of Self Energy. What Self Energy is and What a Self to Part relationship is. The 6 Fs of Self to part relationship and learn how to use aspects of IFS to guide a complex system be more open to EMDR as a healing approach.

Samuel G. Johnson, MA, BCC, NCC, MAC, ACS, LPC
Has lived in the Clarion PA area for over 15 years. He has worked in such varied fields as infant mental health, older adult mental health, residential treatment, inpatient, outpatient, community mental health, clinical supervision and consultation, university settings, and private practice. He has devoted his time to the pursuit of competent and compassionate trauma treatments such as Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Progressive Counting, Trauma Art Narrative Therapy, Seeking Safety, Brainspotting, and Tapping. Sam also does Emotionally Focused Couples and Family Therapy and works with ages 14 and up in his private practice. Sam was trained in EMDR in 2016, is certified in TANT, Progressive Counting and is currently a consultant in training for EMDR. He is level two trained in IFS and certified in Internal Family Systems. Sam is Board Certified as a Coach and Counselor and is a Master Addiction Counselor. Sam also conducts trauma consults by phone and Web for busy professionals who otherwise wouldn’t be able to get this much needed and sought-after support.
