Senior certified couples therapists in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and Gottman Method Couples Therapy come together to provide an overview of assessment and intervention that these two emotion-centered, research-based couples therapy methods offer clinicians. We will discuss these methods' respective uniquenesses and also their interconnected, fertile common ground for transforming couples' relationships. We will offer an overview of the more than 100 years of combined research, clinical experience, and wisdom of Sue Johnson and John and Julie Gottman. The second half of this day-long training will offer attendees (through clinical examples and videos) methods for intervention, as well as descriptions and explanations of the choice points available to an EFT and/or Gottman couples therapist intervening with any given couple.
