EFT Certification Bootcamp: Unpacking Your Blocks and Completing the Journey

"Whether your goal is certification, or a deepening of your own work, this program will help you tune into your emotional experience and further your own development."

This workshop will provide the therapist trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy both a top down and bottom up template for the certification process. The therapist will learn the necessary requirements for the task of certification and explore any blocks to certification. Specific exercises will be included for exploration of issues encountered in deepening your own work.

Elana Katz, LCSW, EFT Trainer

Elana Katz, LCSW, LMFT, is a Certified EFT Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer. One of the first therapists in New York to practice EFT, she is a founding member of NYCEFT where she serves on the Executive Board. In addition to her private practice, she is a senior faculty member at the Ackerman Institute where she’s taught both in the core training program as well as a number of innovative courses in EFT. She has presented nationally and internationally, including annual meetings of the American Family Therapy Academy, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, and the Psychotherapy Networker, and has published a number of articles and been quoted by the New York Times, the Associated Press, and other media outlets, including National Public Radio.


Ben Medley, LCSW, EFT Supervisor

Ben Medley LCSW, is a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist (EFT) and Supervisor and is also a Certified Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) therapist. He has a full-time private practice in NYC where he works with individuals and couples. He teaches and presents both EFT and AEDP in New York City and beyond, including twice presenting the successful NYC EFT seminar Certified: The steps, The Presentation and What it Looks Like in NYC. Main Points of this Workshop

  • Provide an environment to participants training in EFT to learn the components
    of the certification process to become a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist
  • Discuss the specific process of certifying – steps, requirements, necessary documentation
  • Discussion of the common barriers and common pitfalls of certification process
  • Experiential component – individual self-exploration of personal barriers
    and struggles, goals and objectives for individuals professional development
  • Strategy for individual certification process

  •   Identify his/her personal and professional strengths as well as blocks and barriers to the process
  •   Create a pathway specific to his/her individual goals
