Promising Practices That Support Pregnant and Parenting Youth in Care – August 16, 2017

Several States have adopted policies, services, and supports to address the unique needs of this population, including health equity promotion, and this webinar will feature information about these innovative ways to serve pregnant and parenting youth involved in child welfare. Additionally, the presentation will highlight promising practices in pregnancy prevention and sexual health with this population that were identified in part through review of States’ Annual Progress and Services Reports (APSRs). Holistic and integrated policies and services were of particular interest, and several States that were beginning to plan or implement innovative programming have been identified. The webinar will feature presentations from those States, and their practical experiences will help the audience consider potential barriers and offer strategies to plan and implement similar work in their areas. Participants will gain insights and considerations and learn practical examples of the elements necessary to create and sustain robust sexual health and pregnant and parenting services for youth involved in the child welfare system.
