Course Information

Developing an Internal Ethical Compass Through Insight Meditation

Even when mental health professionals know ethical "rules", we don't often have an opportunity to ponder more nuanced situations. How do we discern when we are at risk to cross the line? How do we find the "middle path" between too rigid and too loose boundaries? Clinical ethical issues are complex, involving multiple considerations and stakeholders. Insight meditation offers a practice to integrate this complexity.
Our workshop will be of interest to people from a variety of clinical orientations and range of meditation experiences; it is appropriate for mental health professionals who are new to meditation as well as more experienced meditators. Uniquely conceived to present didactic material about a range of subtle boundary dilemmas using small group exploration and discussion, and three half hour silent meditation sittings, "Developing an Internal Ethical Compass" workshops are designed to meet the ethics requirements for licensure.
