Train-the-Trainer: Family Empowerment and Leadership Academy (FELA)

The Train-the-Trainer: Family Empowerment and Leadership Academy is a companion webinar to Family Empowerment and Leadership Academy [E-Learning and Classroom] Curriculum. This webinar provides directions to training professionals on how to provide ongoing guidance for delivering of the Family Empowerment and Leadership Academy LE with content specific to their jurisdiction.
 

Presenters

Angela Braxton
As a National Family Empowerment Consultant, Ms. Braxton works with child welfare agencies and family partners across the country to improve child welfare outcomes for children and families, promoting safety, permanency, and well-being for children and families involved with, or at risk of becoming involved with the child welfare system. Working in partnership with state and county child welfare systems to create collaborative partnerships among diverse groups of parents and caregivers (birth, foster, adoptive parents and kin caregivers) groups as well as between these family members and agency service providers (child welfare, law enforcement, substance abuse treatment centers, and the courts) to sustain these collaborative partnerships over time. Ms. Braxton currently works as a Family Empowerment Program Area Advisor and formerly Family Empowerment Program Area Advisor to the Capacity Building Center for States. She is co-founder of the Kansas Family Advisory Network, Inc. Ms. Braxton is a former member of the National Child Welfare Workforce Institute (NCWWI) Advisory Board; a former member, consultant, and trainer, to the Leadership Academy for Middle Managers Advisory Board and National Training Team; and a former consultant of The National Resource Center for Permanency and Family Connections, Hunter College School of Social Work in New York. Her publications include A Woman with an Issue (2006) and Restoration Through the Storm (2010).
Charmaine Brittain, M.S.W., Ph.D.
Charmaine Brittain is the Director of Organizational Development at the Butler Institute for Families. She has worked extensively over the past two decades to improve organizational effectiveness and strengthen professional education for child welfare workers. At the Butler Institute for Families, she serves as lead on workforce projects, consults with child welfare agencies on organizational development, writes curricula on a range of topics, and develops professional educational materials used throughout the country. Dr. Brittain’s expertise on the implementation and use of Learning Circles has led to her having consulted on the development and implementation of Learning Circle projects in several states. Multiple states have adopted or adapted the supervisor core training, Putting the Pieces Together: Supervisor Core Curriculum, for which she was an editor/author. In 2011, Dr. Brittain was honored with the Distinguished Service in Training award from the National Staff Development and Training Association. She is the co-editor/editor and contributing author for three books published by Oxford University Press: Child Welfare Supervision (2009), co-editor with Cathryn Potter; Helping in Child Protective Services (2004); and Understanding the Medical Diagnosis of Child Abuse and Neglect (2006).

Failure to sign in or out will result in forfeiture of credit for the entire course. No exceptions will be made. Partial credit is not available.
